Even the best roof in the world may eventually require an emergency repair. The roof over your head is your first protection against Mother Nature and other damaging elements – it protects your home or your business and more importantly, your family or employees.

Scotland’s distinct weather means you may not have time to prepare for specific weather conditions, or can be completely taken by surprise when the winds pick up and start playing havoc with your roof tiles or slates.

We’ll arrive promptly, and diagnose and resolve your roof emergency issue quickly and economically. We are usually able to provide a temporary solution immediately and can then advise on repair or refurbishment options as the situation requires.

If you’ve just discovered a leak – here are some tips until we arrive:

  • If you discover a minor leak, tape a piece of string nearby and place a bucket underneath. The water should flow down the string into the bucket, instead of onto your floor. This will prevent further damage to your home.

  • For heavier leaks, drill a hole in the ceiling to allow water to escape (ensure your tools remain bone-dry however). Place a bucket underneath to catch the flow. This will keep the ceiling from becoming saturated with water—and possibly collapsing.

  • Make it a habit to regularly inspect your home for leaks or water damage so you can detect problems before they get worse.

    Factors include, the condition of the existing roof, its age and its size. Some repairs can be completed in a day, others take much longer depending on the complexity of the job – we’ll do our best to give you an estimate before the job starts, but please bear in mind a lot of the work is weather dependent!

  • Do you guarantee your work?

    Yes – all the work is guaranteed (parts and labour) – the length of the guarantee depends on the roofing material you choose, as each has a different expected lifespan:

    12 years for felt roofs

    15 year guarantee for tiled roofs

    20 years for slate roofs

    (Please note we don’t include storm damage in our guarantee)

    Any claims made to guarantees given will require a hard copy to be shown before any works will be carried out. It is the customer’s responsibility to keep these guarantees safe. Shepherd Roofing and Slating will not be responsible for providing duplicate hard copies.
